Los Angeles, CA -
On Sunday, 92,000 participants in 581 cities and 95 countries came together in their most dapper attire, on classic and vintage motorcycles, to raise $4.5 Million USD for men's health. In Los Angeles alone, 950+ riders took to the streets of Culver City, Santa Monica, and Venice Beach.
I donned my green blouse, black pants, and boots and joined my fellow gentlefolk for the Los Angeles ride.
As the sun began to peek over the buildings, the vacant parking lot in Culver City started to fill with motorcycles of every variety. Participants gathered for coffee, conversation, and the spectacle that is nearly 1,000 motorcycles preparing for a 2hr cruise through the beautiful streets of southern California.
Tweed, Tuxes, and Tailored Suits
The Gentleman's Ride is as much a celebration of style as it is motorcycles. I found myself admiring the outfits just as much as the bikes.
I got lead the field as a passenger in a Morgan Brooklands Edition Three-Wheeler. With the rev of 1,000 engines and the drop of a flag, we took off on what turned out to be one of the more unique and enjoyable experiences of my life. I am so grateful for the opportunity to be a part of it all.
It is important to remember that the DGR is more than just a fun ride once a year. It is first and foremost a charitable event. This year the community came together to help break the stigmas and barriers that exist in men when it comes to mental health and to support the efforts of prostate cancer research and awareness. Thanks to the efforts of all 92,000 participants, we collectively raised nearly $5 million.
Thank you to everyone all over the world who took part in the Distinguished Gentleman's Ride.
Until next year.
